If you build it, they will come.
So Ireland has a pretty good reputation for being home to not just large internet companies, but also lots of start ups. We've been working on a project here recently that is due to go live soon. It will hopefully put a much bigger spotlight on the great tech opportunities that exist here. Which brings me to the headline. There are lots of great ideas out there. There are also lots of terrible ones, but if you have an idea, well at least give it some air and see if it's something that's worth pursuing.
So Vine. You know vine right. 6s videos. Owned by Twitter. Used as a noun when talking about creating short, short video clips? Well it turns out that it's losing lots of it's star users. So is the platform in trouble? See the numbers here
Recently, multiple account support on Instagram came along and changed my life #4eva. But clients keep asking about Instagram reporting, which is awkward. But then this story broke and all was well with the world. Huzzah
There are so many different social cameras, selfie sticks and 360 rigs out there now that it's kind of hard to get excited about new camera products. But I'm genuinely excited by this week's covetable item. The Podo. Check it out.
OK so it turns out that Google maybe aren't ready to abandon social, but they are changing tactics. This time they're coming at you as a social messaging app called Spaces. The premise is to help people share content seamlessly. Will it fly?
But it's not just Instagram making changes. Twitter have announced some big changes about the 140 character count. e.g. adding a photo no longer eats 22 of them. Same goes for adding a URL. So. More space for your actual tweet! Yuss!
So we spoke about Snapchat striking a deal with Nielsen recently, which will allow them to provide analytics on their 3V ad product. So we'll be able to tell brands who saw their content. And now agencies are expecting a boatload of budget.
To say I'm fascinated by the DPKR (North Korea) is a total understatement. So when I see a story about a journalist who was held and questioned for 10hrs, well I'm going to read the hell out that. And so should you. It's just madness.
We're nearly half way through 2016. How incredible is that. I only mention it to point out the fact that if you do have an idea, if you don't do something about it quickly, pretty soon a year will have passed and you really won't do anything about it. So as I said above. If you have an idea. Give it some air. You never know, you could have the next Slack on your hands.
